Stuart Pollock's Model Layout

The fictional Wash Oak & Ohio RR -- nick-named "The WOO"  (get it?)-- is a modest HO layout built on 4’x 8’ bench-work. The track plan is also modest; on one level;
with 18” radii, No. 4 turnouts is operation by DCC technology -- specifically the same "Easy DCC" system operated by the RMRC.

The layout represents an August,1955 afternoon in the fictional, and somewhat seedy, small town of Wash Oak, Michigan located somewhere along the old Pere Marquette main-line south of Detroit. The town was founded in the 19th-century as a commercial  and railroad transportation-center for surrounding agriculture and farmers.  In 1955 the city of Wash Oak's rural roots have been abandoned; its importance as a commercial center has waned, too, Detroit and Toledo overshadow it. It's  connection to The WOO remains, though. The Wash Oak & Ohio RR headquarters building is located on Michigan Avenue in down-town Wash Oak.

Additional bench-work, 6' x 8', is waiting development. So far the new real-estate is empty of both track an scenery. In the future it will expand the Wash Oak RR empire to include a WOO terminus in Toledo, a staging/locomotive service-yard and several industries.The Wash Oak & Ohio RR was created in 2004 as a “laboratory” in which to polish modeling and detailing techniques in anticipation of adding real-estate as time and inspiration suited me.

This layout has many great looking structures all built by the owner of the layout. The craftsmanship is remarkable.
