The fictional Wash Oak & Ohio RR is a modest HO layout built on 4’x8’ bench-work. The track plan is also modest; on one level; with 18” radii and No. 4 turnouts. It represents an August, 1955 afternoon in the equally fictional small town of Wash Oak, Michigan located somewhere along the old Pere Marquette main-line south of Detroit but north of Toledo. The layout purposefully does not offer an operational challenge –although it ably runs trains. The Wash Oak & Ohio RR was begun in 2004 as a “laboratory” in which to polish my modeling and detailing techniques in anticipation of building a much larger and more complicated “railroad empire” in the future (the design, for which, is now being devised. The WO & O is 35% completed.
